My business venture actually began as a personal blog. I came up with the name EmBodyed Tides, based on two important concepts (also visible on my homepage) :

embody
verb – to be an expression of or give a tangible or visible form to (an idea, quality, or feeling)
tide
noun – the rise and fall of sea levels caused by combined effects and gravitational forces exerted by the Sun, the Moon, and rotation of the Earth

I hope to bestow with these musings on my blog an opportunity to take pause and reflect on such flux. For nothing other than to take pause in our waters, and remember that deep below, we all are anchored in the same foundation.

Which End of the Pool?

When I was growing up, one of my best friend’s had their very own pool.  I mean we’re talking the in-ground, heated pool, no less.  Complete with a well-kept cement patio and diving board.  It was every little kid’s dream.  A group of our friends would come spend the night on her small enclosed deck, […]

T.R.A.U.M.A. Treatment?

It seems that the word trauma is seen more often than I remember.  In the scope of Psychology, in local and national news scandals & stories.  Positively, it’s less associated as a “only they” situation; I think in general the terminology discussed more frequently allows for its stigmatization to decrease.  Be it “Big T” or […]

Mom Bod Beauty

“I love every stretch mark on my body.  It reminds me of the kind of power I have within me, and what I went through to carry my children.” Excuse me while I call b u l l s h i t. Well – speaking for myself, anyways.  B U L L – S H […]

What Do You Need?

“Compassion involves recognizing our shared human condition, flawed and fragile as it is.” Kristin Neff Ever doubt the way that others are interacting with you?  Ever question how to ask for more space from someone, or more time with something, but are fearful that you’ll hurt the other person’s feelings? I have been quite self-critical […]

Honoring What IS

Connecting to your JOY … or, to any one of your emotions, really. This weekend during our most recent Mindful Mamas Support Group, we explored a meditation practice centered around some of the work from American Psychologist & Buddhist Meditation Teacher, Tara Brach, and her acronym, RAIN:  Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture.  We began in a […]

Respecting Our GED

I hear so frequently from clients concerns of inadequacy – typically under the umbrella of relationships – as friends, siblings, students, employees, romantic partners, parents, etc.  And while there are often other adults or kiddos accompanying this narrative, some who influence our beliefs about self-competency, I also like to explore with folks one of the […]

Rocking With Our Faith

“I don’t care who you are, the pressure is to go onto the next task immediately.  What happened to the days of hanging out in the hammock all afternoon?” [James Brolin] Today, the pressures of moving on to the “next thing” appears to plague many people.  I see this with clients, in friendships, and witness […]

5 Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude

These days, it’s wonderful practice to express our appreciation for one another. Whether it’s someone who chose to help you with a work task, or who offered you some guidance, or lent their ear for you to vent. We can ‘thank’ that person and perhaps pay it forward by doing the same for someone else. […]

Take What You Need, and Leave the Rest.

Hey there. Yes you, Mama. I see you. It’s been weeks of loud crying, temper tantrums, a lack of showers & general hygiene, poor eating habits (if you’ve found time to eat at all), and you’re so, so, so tired. Friends at work, families in person, strangers online. They seem to have all the answers: […]

Choose Yourself First.

Kindness matters.  It begins with you.  Then pour it unto others. Love matters.  It starts with you.  Then, as you see fit, extend it outward. Compassion matters.  Begin within.  Soon you’ll be able to pass it along to everyone and everything you encounter.  Bequeath it to those that you do not often see, or perhaps […]
